The Assistant - Prompting Tips

Get everything out of our Assistant

To get everything out of our Assistant, a good prompt is important. In this cheatsheet you will get some examples of good prompts and prompts that will lead to less useful answers.

Tips for good prompts

  • Provide a short and precise description of the client, and describe their symptoms and the target group. For example, age, language, parent, social environment.
  • Ask followup questions to dive deeper into the topic or theme.
  • Do not provide the Assistant with too much information at once.

Examples of good prompts

  • I am looking for a program for a boy of 12 who has trouble recognizing other people's boundaries.
  • My client, a retired woman age 69 says she feels lonely since the passing of her husband. Besides that she struggles with finances and she worries a lot. Which program fits?
  • Woman age 40 experiences low self-esteem and wants to improve this. She also has trouble standing up for herself.
  • Mother of a boy age 6 with autism wants to know how she can deal with this.

Things you should not do

  • Long and complicated descriptions
  • Share data that can be traced back to a specific client
  • Use the Assistant like a search engine by only using a couple of search terms.
  • Use metaphors and sayings
  • Ask questions about other things besides Therapieland programs

Example of less efficient prompts

  • Depression, sadness, worrying
  • Mister Hamers birth date 1-1-1985, single dad of two young children has recently checked in with a mental health practitioner, because he experiences a lot of stress. The main cause of this is that he has just lost his job and can now no longer make ends meet. He receives support of local social workers and has been appointed a job coach by the employee insurance agency.
  • Client, woman in her late 50s can no longer keep her head above water, because she is overwhelmed by her job and because she carries a heavy weight on her shoulders from caring for her sick mother.
  • Which questionnaires can I use when there is a suspicion of a personality disorder?
